Letters - 2026

the set of Alphabet

In 2026, a new set of rules are considered, this time taking the IPA chart into consideration, so that it is more rigorous and logical.

K2V2

Back at the previous Stream of scripts (Ancient to Standard), for both the consonants and vowels, their radicals are quite arbituary.

T

The consonants are made from 2 parts (aspects) just like before : position and strength

But this time the radicals for different positions is now more rigorous and reasonable.

The radical for the consonant can be treated as the oral cavity, where the top is the front, and the bottom is the back.

back

throat

wait ... that looks different ...

Before K2V2, tongue is considered one consonant type, but now it is broken down into 3 : front , middle , back.

wait ... what are w and y doin here ?

In K2V2, both w and y are now considered a consonant

For the vowels, this time the IPA vowel space triangle is taken into consideration.

from the ordinary IPA perspective, the 3 parameters are :

height : ( Close vs Open )

width : ( Front - Center - Back )

roundness : ( Normal vs Rounded )

However, in the IPA vowel space triangle, "roundness" is a parameter, which in Astralica is NOT.

Here we are looking from the perspective of physics : the 2 harmonic frequencies, F1 and F2.

This is also known as "formant"

Vowel_triangle,_intermediate_vowels.png

Above is the accurate vowel triangle, however, to make it easier to manage, we have to do some adjustments.

Although the sound pronunciation and symbol will not be perfectly accurate, at least the derivation of the symbols are reasonable and logical. There are 2 steps : flipping the triangle up-side-down and "unslant"/"un-skew" the lines

here we can see that we have 2 axis :

Height (green) and Width (Red)

-4

0

+4

Height

Width

This means that there are 81 possible vowels by combining these glyphs.

If a vowel has one of its axis to be a 0, that part can be omited

If a vowel has both axis to be a 0, then that vowel will use a single circle.

for the first time, a few valid Kaomoji can be generated by using the K2V2 Script :

fun fact

K2V2 is the first script to have a font file, meaning we can use it on a computer keyboard
